Exports of drugs from Italy continue to grow. + 58% is the figure recorded for the three-year period 2017-2019, of which + 20.9% are in the last year. All for a total value that exceeds 33.5 billion euros. The numbers of companies in the sector
If we consider the entire value chain, companies in the pharmaceutical sector in Italy number over 50,000 and employ 280,000 employees. These include 23,000 intermediaries and 18,000 pharmacies. The total turnover is equal to 106 billion euros.
Pharmacies on the rise
The number of pharmacies is increasing: according to the study there is in fact a + 5.9% of businesses from 2017 to 2020. Monza and Ragusa are the provinces where there was the greatest increase while in Isernia, taking into account the relationship with the resident population, the highest density of businesses is recorded.
The Pharmaceutical Report
This report takes into consideration the most relevant historical balance sheet data for the top 20 companies in Italy, the top 30 in Europe and the top 50 in the world (for listed companies, analysts' consensus estimates on the future are also indicated). The data are updated to June 2020 and show that the industrial component of the pharmaceutical industry, basic products and preparations, is among the most dynamic in terms of research, development, investment and innovation of all national manufacturing activities.
