Japan is located off the Korean coast and is one of the easternmost countries in Asia; it consists of many islands, with the 4 main ones making up 97% of the entire territory, subject to intense seismic activity. It is one of the most advanced nations in the world, a status recently achieved however thanks to the development of the most technological industrial sectors.

PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY OF JAPAN

Japan is a volcanic archipelago of nearly 7,000 islands, of which the four main ones make up 97% of the total area; Honshu (227,943 Km²) is the third largest island in Asia, in order of surface we then have Hokkaido (77,984 Km²), Kyushu (36,783 Km²) and Shikoku (18,298 Km²). The coastal development of the country is 33,890 kilometers, even of all the smaller islands, among which we mention Okinawa (1,207 Km²), one of the southernmost, Sado (855 Km²), east of Niigata, Amami Oshima (712 Km²), in the Ryukyu archipelago such as Okinawa and Tsushima (696 Km²), closer to the South Korean than Japanese coasts and for this reason the subject of dispute in the past.

The territory is largely mountainous, the largest plain is that of Kanto, where the capital Tokyo is located, the most inaccessible mountain ranges are found on Honshu, in particular in the central part of the island, with peaks that slightly exceed three thousand meters, except Mount Fuji (3,776 m.), which stands out from the other mountains, both for its morphology and because it is almost 600 meters higher than the second Japanese peak, Mount Kita (3,193 m.).

Japan is rich in waters, but obviously there cannot be too imposing and long rivers, given the conformation of the territory; Shinano (367 Km) and Tone (322 Km) the main waterways of the island of Honshu, Ishikari (268 Km) and Teshio (256 Km) those of Hokkaido, these are also the four longest in the country .

The only lake of some importance is the Biwa (669 Km²), a few kilometers east of Kyoto; follow Kasumigaura (168 Km²), Saroma (152 Km²) and Inawashiro (103 Km²).

Hokkaido has a continental climate, while most of Japan is in the temperate belt, except the southern islands which have a subtropical climate; the precipitations are generally quite abundant, also due to the mountain ranges present almost in all the islands; winters in Hokkaido and in the northern area of Honshu are very long and harsh, while they are much milder in the rest of Japan, where summers are very hot and humid.

TOURISM IN JAPAN

The tourism sector is experiencing a real boom in the last few years, given that it has gone from 6-8 million visitors between 2004 and 2012 to over 31 million in 2018; this is also thanks to the fascinating mix of culture, tradition and modernity offered by Japan.

THE PROJECT ORIGIN

"In the American temperament there is a quality, called resiliency, which embraces the concepts of elasticity, rebound, resource and good humor. A girl loses her patrimony, without being commensurate, she will start washing dishes and making hats. A student will not feel debased by working a few hours in a garage or a café. I saw America at the end of the Hoover presidency, in one of the most tragic hours in its history, when all the banks had shut down and economic life was at a standstill. Anguish gripped hearts, but happiness and confidence shone in everyone's faces. Listening to the phrases they exchanged one would have said that it was all a huge joke. And if some financier threw itself out the window, I can't help believing it did so in the deceptive hope of bouncing back ”- Paul Claudel.

The book aims to describe the concept of resilience, a concept that indicates the ability to deal positively with difficult events, to positively reorganize one's life in the face of difficulties, to rebuild oneself while remaining sensitive to the positive opportunities that life offers, without alienating one's own identity. The story tells about a boy who will find himself managing a reality that he could not expect or predict, thanks to the resilience he has shown in various complex and difficult life situations.
